Wienermobiles to Race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 22
The Wienie 500 returns on Friday afternoon with six Wienermobiles competing on a course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway ahead of the Indianapolis 500. The event features vehicles representing regional hot dog styles in a promotional race during the race-week festivities.
The competition includes returning fan elements such as custom decals, racing suits, and the "Wiener Song" anthem. The winner receives the Borg-Wiener Trophy at the "Wieners Circle" podium following a mustard spray ceremony.
Defending champion Slaw Dog will compete again in 2026. The main Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026, with coverage beginning at 10 a.m. ET on FOX and the green flag at 12:45 p.m. ET.
The Wienie 500 serves as a lighthearted prelude to the Indianapolis 500, maintaining its place in the week’s schedule of events at the speedway.
