Lanning Says Quarterback Dante Moore Trending Toward Recovery

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said Saturday that quarterback Dante Moore is recovering well from the concussion he sustained last week against USC, telling "Big Noon Kickoff" that the senior "is going to be OK" as the program continues to monitor his progress with caution.

"It's looking like he's going to be OK," Lanning said. "I'm grateful that God has his hand over him and in recovery mode right now. We'll just continue to proceed with an abundance of caution to make sure that he's ready to go whenever he's able to step back out there for us." crossfire mobile champions cup

Moore was injured with 10:05 left in the second quarter of Oregon's 41-27 win over USC, struck in the head by linebacker Desman Stephens II while attempting to slide. The hit prompted both teams to be separated on the field, and Stephens was subsequently suspended by USC for the Trojans' Week 5 game against Washington. In Moore's absence, backup Dylan Raiola - who started at quarterback for Nebraska in 2024 and 2025 before transferring to Oregon - completed 19 of 25 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, finishing with a 199.5 passer rating. The previous week, against Portland State, Raiola went 11 of 11 for 124 yards and three touchdowns.

"I'm just so proud of him," Lanning said of Raiola. "You talk about owning a role and not waiting for your opportunity but preparing for your opportunity, and Dylan's a guy that prepared for his opportunity."

Oregon improved to 3-1 with the win over USC and climbed to No. 15 in the latest AP Top 25 after opening the season at No. 2, slipping to No. 6 following a narrow home victory over Boise State, and falling to No. 21 after an upset loss at Oklahoma State. The Ducks have a bye in Week 5 before hosting No. 23 UCLA on Oct. 10, a matchup in which Moore's availability will be closely watched.
