Christian Eriksen has agreed to terminate his contract with Wolfsburg, the German club announced Wednesday, roughly four months after the Danish midfielder collapsed on the pitch during a Denmark friendly. The 34-year-old had not played since the incident, and his deal had been due to run until June 2027.
Eriksen collapsed on June 7 after clutching his chest during Denmark's friendly against Ukraine in Odense, Denmark. It marked the second time in his career he had gone down on the field, following his cardiac arrest at the 2021 European Championship, when players formed a protective circle around him as he received emergency treatment.
